He's doing breakfast from Espresso house

Where: Espresso House Central station
He ate: White scone with cream cheese, orange juice and espresso
Cost: 49 SEK
Type: Swedish, breakfast

He rated: 6/10

With a long hiatus on dining out in Malmö, my only option would be to grab something to go this morning as I boarded the train to Gothenburg for a metal-infested weekend as my all-time favourite bands are performing here.
So what better than to rate the famous "klassikern" breakfast menu from one of the many espresso houses? What you get for this low price is a small beverage of your choice, a cup of orange juice (fresh-squeezed) and two slices of fresh, juicy scones.
You also have the option to choose, cream cheese or butter to go with it, also included is the raspberry jam and two slices of somewhat tasty cheese.
There is nothing special about this, nor nothing to comaplain about, it is suited for those quick moments when you just feel like reloading for something less than a fortune, other than that craving you sometime might get for these scones.

She's doing dinner at Steakhouse Lilla Torg

Where: Steakhouse Lilla torg, Lilla torg 7
She ate: Elk steak with morel mushroom sauce
Cost: 249 SEK
Type: Swedish, steak

She rated: 9.5/10

This Lilla Torg landmark offers Swedish staples including elk steak. Steakhouse has an authentic Swedish style with brick and wood panelling exterior mix with simple, minimalist modern interior and furnishing. Personally I think that Steakhouse serves the best steak from all of the other Lilla Torg restaurants and I am tempted to say that this could be the best steakhouse in all of Malmo. My elk steak was almost perfect if it was a little more rare and the sauce coupled with grilled vegetables were luscious. The outdoor patio is a perfect place to dine out in Malmo.

She's doing lunch at Malmo Brygghus

Where: Malmo Brygghus, Bergsgatan 33
She ate: Wheat beer burger with coriander and garlic on sesame home made hamburger buns.
Cost: 95 SEK
Type: Swedish, American

She rated: 7/10

Malmo Brygghus is the only local brewery in Malmo. This place had quaint interior with dark rustic wood with brick exterior. The service was friendly and I would definitely go back to do the brewery tour and the chocolate factory tour (located next door). I ordered the burger and was content with the dish. No high fives. The homemade sesame bread buns were superb but the meat patty was dull considering there was beer and coriander in the mix.

I don't know if I would pay another 95 SEK for another burger but for the beer lovers, I would highly recommend this place for the brewery (duh), atmosphere and overall easy going hang out.

PS: On Fridays and Saturdays, they hold a beer tour with tasting menu for 195 SEK. I will send Mr. T there while I devour all the chocolate I can handle next door at the Chocolate Factory (Malmo Chokladfabrik).

He's doing surf 'n' turf at Steakhouse lilla torg

Where: Steakhouse Lilla torg, Lilla Torg 7
He ate: Surf n' Turf
Cost: 289 SEK
Type: Swedish, Steak and seafood

He rated: 10/10

You might have experienced lilla torg and its awesome atmosphere at some of the few nights in Malmö, when it is actually nice enough to sit down outside. This is the best place to get your juicy steak, seared to perfection according to your choice of rare, medium or well-done. Pay a little bit more and you can add half a lobster to your plate and spoil your palate with both surf and turf -deliciousness. The combination of this dish is always a given option when you are wondering to have seafood or steak, imagine this at the prime location in Malmö and with the best possible flavour, and you will come out with this plate.
It comes with a fresh tomato salsa and some really big potatoe wedges and a small container of chili bernaise sauce, which all go really well together with your big crustacean and your awesome piece of meat.
Suffice to say, if you have not eaten here before, go there and get this, only excuse is being allergic to shellfish.

He's doing afternoon beer at Bishop's arms

Where: The Bishop's Arms, Norra Vallgatan 32
He drank: Chimay on tap
Cost: 69 SEK
Type: Beer

He rated: 8/10

If you like stronger beer, distilled to the higher values of alcohol percentages, you probably love trappist beer, and if you like any beer you also prefer that beer on tap.
This was the option presented to me at Bishop's arms and the selection from the vast amount of beer available, turned out to be an easy one as soon as I spotted the chimay label.
The price is roughly double to what systembolaget charges you for the bottled version so to get this for 69 SEK seemed reasonable to me.
The flavour is more sweet but potent, and the lingering flavour tells you you had a quality trappist beer.
I have been living in central Malmö for about one year now, and today was the first day I entered this awesome pub, when leaving my head kept telling me to remember to go back here to try out everything else.

He's doing lunch at Malmo Brygghuset

Where: Malmo Bryghuss, Bergsgatan 33
He ate: Wheat beer burger with coriander and garlic on sesame home made hamburger buns.
Cost: 160SEK (95 SEK burger + 65 SEK beer)
Type: Burger & Beer

He rated: 7/10

Micro brewery in malmö, with a seemingly interesting hamburger menu, valid for june only. So what is there not to like?
The burger landed on my plate in nice presentation, with the tomato and cilantro-infested salsa as well as the dressing on the side, leaving it up to you to decide the amount you want on your burger.
The bread was very tasty and the roasted potatoes on the side was divine when mixed with the dressing.
The only issue I have with this dish, was the the actual meat patty not tasting that much, and they could have brought out the flavours of this beer-basted minced meat better.
I also included a weiss beer from their own brewery, from the tap of course, and that tied the dish together very well.
The good part is that you don't feel sick and regret your choice of having burger for lunch when you are done, and the lingering taste of malmö's own weiss beer makes this dish above average.

She's doing lunch at Klaff-Bron

Where: Klaff-Bron, Nordenskiöldsgatan 19
She ate: Apple cider chicken on matvete (oat rice)
Cost: 85 SEK
Type: Swedish

She rated: 3/10

This was a typical swedish lunch. Healthy, hearty, and humdrum. The presentation was 'vomitous' - see picture above. The lunch menu offers 4-5 different dishes on Monday to Friday from meat, fish and vegetarian choices. It also includes a delicious salad bar that is more than greens such as rosemary roasted potatoes, tomato cucumber salsa, cabbage salad, etc. The setting is cozy with vintage furnishing and there is a patio area if you want to eat out in the sun. I will definitely go back to try their other dishes, but this platter was disappointing.

He's doing breakfast buffet at Lilla kafferosteriet

Where: Lilla Kafferosteriet , Baltzarsgatan 24
He ate: Brunch buffet
Cost: 95 SEK
Type: Continental

He rated: 8/10

When it comes to coffee in Malmö, this is the place to go to, it holds a wide variety of different single estate assortments and the quiet garden at the back holds a cozy atmosphere.
Starting at 11am you can choose to do this buffet, including a small glass of orange juice, some yoghurt, all you want from the buffet table and of course a coffee of your choice.
The table include daily bread, cheese, some ham and various fruits, eggs and paté, it is nothing extraordinary but everything is very fresh and well presented. To get the maximum for the price, I recommend going here hungry, doing two runs to the table. The golden gem of this breakfast is, however, the coffee.
Personally I went for the double espresso and yet to date I have not been anything else than super satisfied.

She's doing PIZZA at New York Pizza

Where: Hyregatan 3
She ate: Chi town Pizza - pineapple, onion, mushroom, tomato, mozzarella
Cost: 120 SEK for a Large Pizza (8 slices)
Type: American

She rated: 4/10

He wanted Pho and she wanted Pizza. This is the unique feature about this Pizzeria. It has everything from pizza to pho to beef goulash to ice cream and probably everything else your crave. This wide variety of selection is the likeliness why none of these delicacies tastes any good. For a good ol' American pizza, it's worth it since most of the pizzeria in Malmo always involves some kind of kebab. Remember back when after a night out and that 99cent slice pizza just hit the spot? Yup this is the place. PS: 15 SEK for a slice of pizza + coke.

He's doing Phở from New York Pizza

Where: Hyregatan 3
He ate: Hanoi Pho
Cost: ~50 SEK
Type: Vietnamese

He rated: 2/10

So I got a weird craving for some phở, and since the closest place here in "gamla väster" is this new york pizza place. Tiny tiny restaurant, which manages to serve almost every ethnicity known to man.
The problem is that this phở is just plain, no flavour is stepping forward, and the choice of adding chicken instead of beef is just weird, and only makes this dish worse.
The only flavour that you can taste is the lemongrass, and boy they did not spare any expenses on this grass, it is everywhere and it gets stuck between your teeth every spoon you eat. No fresh basil, cilantro or thai basil to add in, only some one-two day old bean-sprouts and a lime that has seen better days, are included as your way to personalize this bowl.

If out of some weird reason you still feel like phở, go to the vietnamese Phở restaurant at Möllan, sure it is more than double the price, but when you leave you don't feel ripped off.

He's doing brunch at Southern kitchen

Where: Southern Kitchen, Östra förstadsgatan 24
He ate: American brunch
Cost: 125 SEK for Brunch Buffet
Type: American

He rated: 6/10

Maple syrup-covered authentic American pancakes, soft, juicy corn bread, bacon, seared to perfect crispsness. They were all there, along with some lesser favourites of mine, e.g. deep-deep-fried chicken some hash browns and sweetened fruit salad.
Overall nice atmosphere with some smooth, live pianist playing while you get up and refill your plate with some more maple syrup, and trust me it goes well with anything on this menu.

Yes a 7 for the best deep fried chicken wings I have ever had in Sweden. The overall menu was everything you would expect for an all-american breakfast; 'real' pancakes (none of that swedish crepe wanna-be pancakes), bacon, hash brown, scrambled eggs. The perfect place for a Sunday morning hangover.
